Loxahatchee Everglades

We experienced the Everglades on an airboat with a company called Loxahatchee Everglades Tours. Something everyone should experience, educational, beautiful and awe inspiring. On the way to the facility, we saw an Alligator in the waterway. So we stopped and got some pictures of him. While taking pictures of it, we saw an Iguana jump out of a tree and into the water. The Iguana was about 2 – 3 feet long. The bugs here are huge, and there are dragonfly’s everywhere. The company has a website: http://www.evergladesairboattours.com/fishing.html

Snorkeling and Fun in the Florida Sun

We took a Catamaran snorkeling trip to The Breakers Reef was lots of fun, not as colorful as Hawaii but just as fun. We saw Baracudas, Tarpfin, King Fish, Butterfly and lots of Jelly Fish. We all actually got stung several times. But they were littler ones so the sting went away rather quickly. Jewels got stung by one that hurt quite a bit but still went away quite quickly. The reef was in front of the Breakers Hotel. A well known hotel in the area that is very exclusive. The water here is around 84 degrees which makes it very pleasant.

Chilling West Palm Beach style

We spent several days at the beach right in front of the Marriott Ocean Point facility. It is a private beach for guests only. So it does not get overly busy. The sand is covered with seashells. The shells are in the water about 10-12 feet out as well. The shells vary in size, but the biggest one we found was about 2” wide. After a while, we stopped trying to find some to bring home because there were so many. The water is very shallow in this area as well. You could be out about 50-75 yards and still be in waist to chest high water. It was awesome! We also saw a Stingray right off the shore. It was in about 1’-2’ of water. It was dark so it was easy to see in the crystal clear water. It stayed very warm while we were here. It was around 90 degrees to 97 degrees. But with the humidity, it felt a lot hotter. Last we saw, the humidity was around 85 to 90. We are glad that we don’t have the humidity to deal with in Utah. The heat is a lot more tolerable.

We witnessed a rain storm like we have never seen. It rained so fast and hard that it was flooding everywhere. It seemed like it rained about 4”-6” in about 45 minutes. We all couldn't believe it. We were trying to capture it on film and video so we could explain it later. But it just doesn’t do it justice.
